Post Brexit International Trade - Maidenhead Chamber of Commerce Feb 2018

Post Brexit International Trade: The Great Debate
Thursday 8th February 2018

I was the panel at this debate hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, to discuss issues related to international trade and Brexit with businesses from Berkshire and the Thames Valley. At the time of the debate, the UK-EU Withdrawal Agreement had not been finalised and there was little understanding - and more than a little confusion - about what Brexit would mean for British trade. I did find it interesting that one attendee who said he voted 'leave' was even then, planning to move his business to the EU 27.

The input that I was able to contribute related to how trade agreements are done, and how long they can take. this is based on the four years I spent tracking ACTA (Anti-counterfeiting Trade Agreement).
