Rishi Sunak facing first Commons defeat over jailing social media bosses

Monica Horten, the policy manager at Open Rights Group, which champions human rights online, warned: “Does this turn Britain into an authoritarian state? One that would jail people, not for what they’ve written, but . . .for what other people are writing and other people’s misuse of the system. I think that [for] parliament to be just nodding this through with no debate would be reprehensible.”
